On Tuesday April 26 from 5:30-6:30pm, the Reilly Center's "Ethics of Emerging Weapons Technologies" class will present a public lecture by Rear Admiral Nevin P. Carr, Jr. (Ret.). The lecture, titled "DOD's Third Offset Strategy: Rationale and Implications," will take place in 117 Haggar Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
The talk will focus on the "third offset strategies," the new military technologies aimed at increasing the competitive advantage of American forces. These technologies include advanced sensors; missile defense; cyber capabilities; unmanned undersea vehicles; advanced sea mines; high-speed strike weapons; advanced aeronautics; electromagnetic rail guns; and high-energy lasers.
Adm. Carr is the former director of the Office of Naval Research for the United States Navy.
