Fr. Matthew Gummess is a Carmelite friar with roots in southeastern New Mexico and Chicago. His current interests include the place of gender and human sexuality in the field of theological anthropology, the history of liberation theologies, foundational theology, and the integration of the sciences into theology as ancilla theologiae. His dissertation will focus on Latin American liberation theology as a case study in the integration of theology and social science, with the aim of modeling a general method for articulating the social sciences with theological anthropology upon the basis of LA liberation theology's successes and failures.
