Biography
Terence McDonnell is the Henkels Family College Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame. His research operates at the intersection of material culture, technology, and health investigating how the design of behavior change campaigns, technologies, and media influences human values, social behavior, and public health outcomes. McDonnell examines why technical interventions and health campaigns succeed or fail, examining cases such as AIDS social movements, global HIV/AIDS prevention media and health awareness campaigns, COVID prevention interventions, and whether and how embodied simulations of health conditions engender empathy and behavior change.
