Biography

Maureen Gillespie Dawson is Assistant Dean in the College of Arts & Letters, Office of Undergraduate Studies. In collaboration with multiple campus partners, she advises students preparing for the health professions and is the director of the Arts & Letters Pre-Health Supplementary Major (APH2). Dawson holds a B.S. in biology from Rutgers University, an M.A. in French from Middlebury College, and a Ph.D. in French literature from New York University. She has taught French language and literature at New York University, Smith College, the University of Kansas, Notre Dame and Indiana University South Bend.  Prior to her position at Notre Dame, she was Assistant Dean for Advising in the College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton University and Director of Student Services in the College of Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her research interests range from medieval studies and hagiography to advising assessment and learning analytics.
