Alyssa Fiume, a 2024 graduate of the Science, Technology, and Values (STV) program, is set to begin medical school in August 2025, pursuing a MD/MPH degree. Reflecting on her academic journey, Fiume credits the STV program for sparking her passion for public and community health, an interest that ultimately shaped her career aspirations.

"My involvement with the Science, Technology, and Values minor and experiences with Professor Geltzer helped me find my passion for public and community health. This has largely informed my decision to pursue the joint MD/MPH degree," Fiume shared.

Fiume emphasized how the minor allowed her to explore "the side of healthcare that you do not get exposure to in typical prerequisite courses," which played a pivotal role in shaping her future ambitions.

Fiume expressed gratitude for the opportunities afforded by the STV program. "I am grateful for the opportunities to learn, explore, and grow within this minor. It enriched my overall time at Notre Dame, and I look forward to carrying these experiences with me in this next chapter of my life."
