Darwin in the 21st Century, an international conference held at the University of Notre Dame from November 1-3, 2009, was devoted to evolutionary theory in its scientific, anthropological, philosophical, and theological dimensions as a contribution to the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. The conference aimed to
- examine the present state of theoretical discussion of evolutionary theory within the biological sciences
- reflect on the future directions of evolutionary theory through interdisciplinary discussions by scientists, social scientists, philosophers of science, and theologians
- explore issues at the intersection of evolutionary theory for our understanding of human nature
- develop interdisciplinary dialogue involving theology, philosophy, and evolutionary biology to form new perspectives on evolutionary science, Christian humanism, and the theology of creation
Volume 7 of the Reilly Center Series will be devoted to Darwin in the 21st Century: Nature, Humanity, and God and published by the University of Notre Dame Press in 2013.
